Overview
The AWS Well-Architected Framework is a set of guidelines for designing and running cloud workloads that are reliable, secure, efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable. The framework is divided into six pillars:
- Operational excellence: This pillar focuses on managing and operating your workloads in a way that reduces risk and improves efficiency.
- Security: This pillar focuses on protecting your workloads from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction.
- Reliability: This pillar focuses on ensuring that your workloads are available and perform as expected.
- Performance efficiency: This pillar focuses on using your IT and computing resources efficiently.
- Cost optimization: This pillar focuses on avoiding unnecessary costs.
- Sustainability: This pillar focuses on reducing the environmental impact of your workloads.
To assess your cloud workloads using the AWS Well-Architected Framework, you can use the AWS Well-Architected Tool. This tool helps you identify areas where your workloads can be improved and provides recommendations for how to make those improvements.
