OS version: CentOS Stream 9.
Lua Version: Lua-5.4.
CentOS Stream 9 is a Linux enterprise-class operating system that is functionally compatible with its upstream source, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Lua is a powerful, efficient, lightweight, and embeddable scripting language. It supports multiple programming paradigms, including procedural, object-oriented, functional, data-driven, and data description programming. Lua combines simple procedural syntax with powerful data description constructs based on associative arrays and extensible semantics. It was created in 1993 by Roberto Ierusalimschy, Luiz Henrique de Figueiredo, and Waldemar Celes at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Lua is dynamically typed, runs by interpreting bytecode with a register-based virtual machine, and has automatic memory management with incremental garbage collection, making it ideal for configuration, scripting, and rapid prototyping. Lua is widely used in various applications, from games to web applications and image processing.
