AWS offers you a pay-as-you-go approach for pricing for the vast majority of our cloud services. With AWS, you pay only for the individual services you need, for as long as you use them, and without requiring long-term contracts or complex licensing. AWS pricing is similar to how you pay for utilities like water and electricity. You only pay for the services you consume, and once you stop using them, there are no additional costs or termination fees.
Because you pay for AWS services as you use them, it’s important to set up cost controls in your AWS account. You can use AWS Budgets to track and take action on your AWS costs and usage.

How Rockdale County improved operations and security with the cloud
With cyberattacks on the rise, so too are stories about government agencies and departments that have been victims. Rockdale County, Georgia, is one of them. The jurisdiction experienced two cybersecurity incidents that led Jamie Cabe, the county’s chief of staff, to work with AWS Partner Tyler Technologies, Inc. to use the cloud to make adjustments to strengthen the county’s security position. Migrating to the cloud not only enhanced data security and continuity of operations, but it also reduced network downtime by 99 percent, while streamlining budgeting and reducing the IT staff’s burden.
How Livingston Parish prepares for natural disasters by improving resiliency in the cloud
Natural disasters are devastating, often resulting in loss of life and massive property damage. They can also damage the critical infrastructure that powers emergency services, prompting public sector organizations to consider building more resilient infrastructure. Such was the case for the 911 system in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, an agency that dispatches for 21 public safety agencies, including law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services, and averages over 325 calls for service per day. After a major flood in 2016 knocked out their 911 system, they decided to use the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud to become resilient against disaster, reducing service interruptions and improving response times.
