Overview
AWS provides customers access to global base maps built from OpenStreetMap (OSM), an open data project, and other open data sources. The map styles are professionally designed to support different applications and use cases, including logistics and delivery and data visualization in web and mobile environments. With over a million map makers, the OSM community has updated more than 500,000 features per day.
Benefits
Amazon Location Service refreshes the OSM data regularly, enabling AWS customers to take advantage of the continually improving quality of OSM data to build applications with up-to-date location data. AWS customers can rely on the security, reliability, and performance of Amazon Location Service to build OSM-based applications at scale without having geospatial expertise.
Capabilities
Open Data Maps combines the work of global contributors to projects like OpenStreetMap with professional cartography and quality, and consistency checks from the Daylight map distribution to create an attractive, stable, and easy-to-use service. Daylight intends to identify and correct instances of vandalism, providing customers with safer OpenStreetMap data. Amazon Location Service supports Open Data Maps, making it easier for developers to integrate maps into their web or mobile applications and overlay information on top.
As an open community project, OSM is editable by anyone, so AWS customers and their users can improve map information relevant to their businesses, interests, and neighborhoods. AWS incorporates these edits on a regular basis and vets them before making them publicly available through Amazon Location Service.
Open Data includes data from OpenStreetMap, which is made available under the terms of the Open Database License in accordance with the AWS Service Terms. Log in to use Open Data.
