How PGA TOUR Leverages AWS
AI and machine learning
Generative AI and machine learning allows the PGA TOUR to at times triple the amount of data and content they can capture from tournament play. With up to 154 players competing in each tournament and 18 holes spread across hundreds of acres, there are countless possibilities to leverage data to innovate and create new ways for fans, players, and broadcasters to get closer to the game.
Cloud-based production
By moving core elements of live-event production from on-premises, truck-based environments to cloud-based production models, the TOUR is able to create a smaller footprint that is much more cost effective and sustainable. The result is more hours of golf content available to fans, players, and their partners.
Improved operations
The PGA TOUR migrated nearly 100 years of video, audio, and images dating back to 1928 to the AWS cloud. This shift enables new insights to be gathered, correlations made, and source content made globally searchable and accessible for the first time to players, coaches, media, partners, fans, and more.
TOURCast 3D
TOURCast is an evolution of the leaderboard that provides video game-like control of the golf viewing experience, allowing fans to change their viewing perspective with alternative camera angles, navigate around the course, view speed rounds, and display player and shot stats on demand.
‘Every Shot Live’ at THE PLAYERS Championship
'Every Shot Live' is a first-of-its kind viewing experience that gives fans unlimited access to live golf. More than 120 cameras capture every shot, from every golfer, with 176 live program feeds and more than 750 hours of golf content. AWS technology enables the production and distribution of this content for domestic and international broadcasts using AWS Direct Connect and AWS Elemental.
